Hello from Shadow Dance Ranch

Our ranch is a small, family owned operation, located in an ancient rain forest in Northwest Washington State. We are nestled among the towering Cedar, Douglas Fir, and Big Leaf Maple trees. Shadows dance about the ranch, as the sun plays hide and seek with the plant and animal life. Neshamah Tanz (Breath Dance), our founding dog, dances about the ranch in joyful play, as she awaits her first litter of puppies.

We welcomed our newest litter on July 31, 2009 and are using the Monks of New Skete puppy development methods to give them the best start possible. We take pride in our breeding program and the philosophy behind our puppy development. See our philosophy page and the Monks of New Skete web site to learn more about these remarkable techniques.

If you are interested in purchasing a puppy here or elsewhere, it is important for you to find out the puppies background, it’s early experiences, genetic heritage, and the general characteristics of the breed. Ask your breeder what kind of handling your puppy has received and how they have accommodated the puppies need for experiences and environments that challenge their curiosity and intelligence during the socialization period. Have they been predominantly kept in a kennel, cage, or room during this critical socialization time. Once you have answers to these questions, you will be ready to make good decisions about the puppy you purchase and about how to help your new puppy develop to it’s full potential.

Take your time and enjoy our web site. You’ll see why we think Shadow Dance Ranch is producing the finest German Shepherd dogs around.

Remember to check back to see the puppies and where they are in their development program.

TESTIMONIES

Dear Lisa,
I so love my puppy.  And, whereas all puppies are adorable,  few have the temperament of Fire Dance.  Between this specific cross in bloodlines and your devotion to their socialization, this puppy already expresses character traits of intelligence, devotion, calmness and confidence rarely seen in any dog, no less one only ten weeks old.  I could not be more pleased… <more from Heidi in Mt. Hi Lisa,
It’s been almost a week since Happy came home with us and it’s been clear from the first minute just what a terrific start Lisa has given her “grandpuppies”. As we knew from checking Lisa’s web page, Neshamah’s puppies have been raised using the strategies developed by the Monks of New Skete. The ideas obviously work but the extra bonus is that Lisa has implemented them with so much extra special love and attention to the smallest details. Our Happy is such a confident puppy… <more from Suzi in Conway, WA>
